My Son Interviews Me About Addiction, Faith & Fatherhood | The Oil Podcast Ep. 1

Aug 7, 2026    Jason Betts

Fifteen years ago, Jason Betts was 28 years old, addicted, and convinced he didn't know who he was anymore — so lost that on the drive to a faith-based rehab program, he threatened to jump out of the moving vehicle. In our very first episode, he walks us through what led him there, the surrender that turned his life around, and how a mother who refused to give up became the reason he's still here.

Jason is now the founder of iY and host of The Oil Podcast — but this conversation isn't really about the ministry. For episode one, he handed the mic to the person who knows him best: his son Milo. It's about a dream of a t-shirt that cost him $6,000, a season of life that had gotten too transactional, a shortstop who made an error and kept playing anyway, and a father and son both circling the same question: who are you living for?
